Salt & Crumb Bakehouse

The brief
A bakehouse needed a site that transmits the smell of the room and answers the three questions every visitor has: what is on today, when are you open, where are you.
The site it replaced
The old site was a beige template with the menu as a wall of centred italic text and the hours wrong in two places.
See the dated before versionThe decisions
- Today's bake is the centrepiece: the day's loaves and pastries as a styled board, sold out struck through honestly.
- The menu is fast styled text. Menus as documents lose customers standing on the pavement.
- Hours and directions sit in the first screen on a phone, because that is the whole errand.
- The palette is pulled from the counter: flour, espresso, caramel. Nothing on the site is a colour the room is not.
Where it landed
What is on, when it opens and where it is: all three answered without a single scroll on a phone.
